The Republic of Austria, as Austria is officially called, is centrally located in Europe and is surrounded by Germany, The Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Italy, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. German is the country’s official language and the Euro its official currency. With a population of almost 8,5 million people, Austria is ranked in the top 20 of the world’s most favorite countries to live in. Austria is a member of the European Union and thanks to the Alps and cultural backgrounds of Vienna and Salzburg, it is a very popular tourist destination, like skiing in winter. International tourism remains one of the main sources of income. Vienna International airport (VIE) is the country’s main airport. Regional airports are located in Graz, Innsbruck, Klagenfurt, Linz and Salzburg.
