Israel

The State of Israel, located in the Middle East on the eastern shore of the Mediterranean, borders Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and Egypt.

Israel is a developed country and is considered as one of the most advanced countries in southwest Asia both in economic and in industrial development. Israel has one of the highest life expectancies in the world. Jerusalem is the country’s capital although not internationally recognized as such. Its main financial center is Tel Aviv and its main industrial area is Haifa.

Despite limited national resources, intensive development of the agricultural and industrial sectors has made Israel largely self-sufficient in food production. Leading export products include a.o. fruits, vegetables, pharmaceuticals and chemicals.
