Russia
Russia or the Russian Federation as it’s officially known, is by far the largest country in the world and borders many other countries. It is also the 9th most populous nation. It extends across 40 percent of Europe and across the whole of northern Asia, spanning 9 time zones. Russia has the world’s largest reserves of mineral and energy resources and is the world’s largest energy superpower.
The Russian economy has undergone significant changes since the collapse of the former Soviet Union, moving from a globally isolated economy to a more market-based and globally integrated economy. Oil, natural gas, metals and timber account for more than 80 percent of Russian exports abroad.
The main international airport (SVO) lies northwest of Moscow and is one of the three airports serving Moscow.
